i don’t really know how to feel about this drama. i decided i needed to watch a japanese drama to prepare myself for being around japanese a lot more (taking a japanese class in college and hopefully getting that job with the little japanese girl). i picked sprout because i thought that would be the most age-appropriate of the new japanese dramas out there. i wanted one that is current, so we could have something to talk about. i doubt she watched the original hana kimi (2007), or any of the others i’ve watched. the most recent one is from 2009. she’s too young; making me feel old. so, anyways, back to the point: i picked one i hoped she would know. and, it’s based off a manga. not surprising, usually pleasing.  however, i’m not a big fan so far. i think the main reason for that is because the female lead seems selfish.. it also seems to have drifted from the manga. the synopsis for the manga said she currently had an idealistic life and a BOYFRIEND. whereas, in the drama, she clearly doesn’t have a boyfriend.. and is in-fact on the search for a mystery man who came to her aid during the day of the entrance ceremony at school. currently, my favorite character is the male lead’s best friend. i have 2 more episodes to watch to get caught up. hopefully it will get better!!

this show had me on edge. it made me angry. it made me cry. this is one of the most powerful dramas i’ve watched. it was raw.. it was real. it was emotional. i don’t want to give anything away, because i want everyone to watch this drama!! i didn’t think matsumoto jun could play such a serious role. he’s an amazing actor who deserves attention with this drama!!

i found this show!! i watched it forever ago and could not remember the name of it. it took me quite some time, but i kept searching for it!! yankee-kun to megane-chan, based on the manga flunk punk rumble, is one of my absolute favorite japanese dramas ^^

narimiya hiroki really has this incredibly shaped mouth. it looks like he’s a character out of an anime, and possibly a double for the joker when he smiles :}

my brother suggested this drama to me. at first, i wasn’t going to watch it, because i don’t think the lead, lee seung ki, is attractive. however, i set that aside. and i’m so glad i did!! it was an amazing drama. the cuteness was so much that i couldn’t stop grinning.. until it made me cry. i was really convinced that there wasn’t going to be a happy ending. it didn’t end like i expected it to.

it was amazing. i recommend it!! the characters are great, the story was new to me.. not like anything i’d seen before.

i cried so much during this drama!! was it worth it? yes. however, not everything went as i wanted it to. perhaps it was too korean for my western head to grasp.. if ha na grew up in america, would she have known about the korean taboo about their relationship? and, moreover, why couldn’t both couples marry in another country? but, more than that, i wish it would have been more neatly tied up in the end!!

i was 100% in love with the 70s couple. hye jung created her own sadness, she didn’t just get things thrown at her like she accuses. and although i can speculate as to why she became nicer to ha na, it would have been better to show it in some of the “flashbacks,” because honestly, they wasted a bit of time with them in the last episode. i would have liked to see hwang in sook again. she was a cute character :) i think sun ho was more attractive than his father was (played by same guy). and, i think it’s a shame they didn’t show what happened to him!! he was my favorite character. i really hope he found his own happiness. what was going on with seo joon’s hair?! a different style would have been better. i feel like they wanted coherency with the 70s couple near the end, as their hair grew longer, like their parents in the 70s. and did jo soo, the cute assistant, ever make it as a photographer? i think it would have been cute if he or that nephew of chang mo’s ended up with miho :) and my last words on this: in ha’s voice was VERY attractive.

great drama. sad it’s over.
