The ploughman’s lunch. 

Based off the idea of a ploughman bringing along a variety of tidbits to eat while out on the field - bread, some meat, some cheese, some fruit and vegetables, anything that can be easily carried and eaten on the spot. 

Over time, places have romanticised the meal and created some fancy interpretations to be served.

But just once, I’d love to order the ploughman’s lunch, and have a dusty guy come in, drop off a lunchbox and walk off mumbling … 

i don’t care what is said. that looks like heaven!!
